[ week two: mingle ]

MINGLE LOG
We're back, everybody! Fresh week, fresh house, fresh murder. It is indeed a fresh house as when people wake on Monday morning they'll see that — everything is fixed! The windows, the table, whatever property damage that was inflicted last week is all cleaned up and reset. There is no SOS on the roof anymore. None of that. Anyone who stayed up all night on Sunday will have seen the mannequins diligently cleaning and repairing the house during the course of the night, finished by dawn. Yay!

They've also opened a new room in the house. A cleaning room — there is a washing machine, dryer, and various cleaning supplies in the room. Mops and brooms and dustpans and swiffers and all sorts of things! There's even a basket for collecting dirty laundry too.

And then in the morning, they bring in a few things to note, dumping it all in the living room.
  • A assortment of feminine clothing — dresses, skirts, blouses, etc
  • Included in that pile of clothing are twenty-five sailor uniforms of various sizes
  • Make up! Quite a bit — enough to last the rest of the time
  • So many packs of underwear. You had underwear last week but like, this is better
  • A tablet with Candy Crush and Infinity Nikki on it. There is nothing else accessible on it. There's a sticky note on the cover that says FOR ECHINACEA
  • A gun with one bullet is on the coffee table
  • A spear is laid across the coffee table as well
That said, it doesn't seem like the food restocked. Huh...

I wager it would depend on the emotional stakes and drama involved therein, but 'television' does not exist where I am from, so I am grasping in the dark as far as the concept of ratings is concerned.

[ There are novels and plays and general gossip, so he doesn't feel entirely out of his depth but if there are specifics...? Well, he wouldn't know!! ]

I never watched it much myself, so I don't really get it either.

[ He only has his gut instinct to go off of. Regardless of how they spin it, it does seem like PB has his idea of how things should run and it wouldn't be easy to get him to deviate from that.

But — wait, back up a moment. ]

You don't have TV in your world?

[ A headshake. More's been getting pretty adept at fielding this kind of conversation at least. ]

We do not - not anymore, perhaps. My world has suffered a catastrophic war that fundamentally changed all its people a few centuries ago. The society that has risen from its ashes is one that might feel strange or even outdated to you. Yet, I have good reason to believe that the era we appear to reside in right now maps fairly closely onto the Old World that went under in the War of Destruction.

[ Hi I'm from the future and also the past, let's not worry about it. ]

[ Woah, so it's not that he's from a world in a far distant past, but more a far distant future? One that's redeveloped after something apocalyptic?

Idly, he wonders if something like that could happen back home...but he pushes the thought aside for now. ]

Wow...so a lot of the technology here must seem pretty foreign to you. That's got to be a lot to adapt to.
