MINGLE LOG

We're back, everybody! Fresh week, fresh house, fresh murder. It is indeed a fresh house as when people wake on Monday morning they'll see that — everything is fixed! The windows, the table, whatever property damage that was inflicted last week is all cleaned up and reset. There is no SOS on the roof anymore. None of that. Anyone who stayed up all night on Sunday will have seen the mannequins diligently cleaning and repairing the house during the course of the night, finished by dawn. Yay!

They've also opened a new room in the house. A cleaning room — there is a washing machine, dryer, and various cleaning supplies in the room. Mops and brooms and dustpans and swiffers and all sorts of things! There's even a basket for collecting dirty laundry too.

And then in the morning, they bring in a few things to note, dumping it all in the living room.

• A assortment of feminine clothing — dresses, skirts, blouses, etc
• Included in that pile of clothing are twenty-five sailor uniforms of various sizes
• Make up! Quite a bit — enough to last the rest of the time
• So many packs of underwear. You had underwear last week but like, this is better
• A tablet with Candy Crush and Infinity Nikki on it. There is nothing else accessible on it. There's a sticky note on the cover that says FOR ECHINACEA
• A gun with one bullet is on the coffee table
• A spear is laid across the coffee table as well

That said, it doesn't seem like the food restocked. Huh...

[Dark is right. He isn't sure what he expected — a tale of heroism amid a dangerous situation? This may technically qualify, but it's far more insidious than he could've guessed. A gang bought her for good fortune?

What does he even say to that?]

...I'm glad she was able to. That there was some light in the darkness, even if you thought otherwise. The world needs more people like that, because good deeds make a difference. You're proof of it.

[The world would be lesser without Milly in it, he thinks.]

[Milly shakes her head a little.] I'm just one of a lot of people she's saved. She's so amazing. I really want to be like that, even a fraction! I could tell you dozens of stories. I save all the news articles!

[Even in her soft, adoring tone, she starts to slide back into being a lovesick puppy.]

If I tell you too much about her, you'll end up feeling just the same as I do! No stealing, okay?

[He can forgive her for it, it's fine. This seems very wholesome and touching, and not something he'd ever make fun of.]

I wouldn't even dream of it.

[He considers her description, though, curious.]

Is she some kind of hero?

That's right! She's the savior of Syndicate. That's why I know she'd come help us if she ever found out about this show.

[Does he remember the transdimensional savior Milly was banking on the first time they met? The social media feeds have definitely made it sound less likely that a hero's watching, though...

Milly lowers her voice a little bit, needing to keep this next bit hushed and without quite so many details.] And she has a very important job, so she's always busy. I hope whoever's helping her out makes sure she's resting and eating lots of food, and pressing her laundry for her...

[That does make sense now, her hoping that someone would swoop in and see this. Honestly, maybe there's still the lingering hope that this hero of hers would can still do that. Sometimes, just the thought of it is enough.

He lowers his voice, too, conspiratorially to match hers.]

An important job that isn't just being a hero? How does she have enough hours in the day?

I don't know how she does it! If only I had my things with me, I could show you all of the news stories I've collected. Every time a guest brings something from the city, I try to get my hands on it. I can't really talk about who she is, so I have to be a little sneaky or ask Mr. E or the other girls sometimes...

[Milly, in the middle of her smitten rambles, giggles happily.]

She'd better not get into any trouble before I can see her again!
