INVESTIGATION

On Friday morning, you wake up — groggy and uncertain over when you went to sleep, how you went to sleep, and how you got in your bed. Yet, you are in your bed (unless...?) and there is a sense of foreboding in the air. Some people might notice their roommates are not in their beds. Some people might notice their roommates are still sleeping. Let's hope the ones who aren't there just got up a bit earlier than everyone else and aren't, you know, the victim. Or victims.

But the doors are unlocked now and the house is accessible again. Time to go investigating.

[ honestly he thinks about turning tail and running away again, but steels himself and shuffles a step closer. ]

I...I don't want you to have to work all by yourself. Especially after everything that happened today.

[ like, okay, yeah, she's been pretty chill about everything so far, but maybe she's just really really good at keeping her cool!!! ]

[ She keeps her back to him while she works, even as she hears him come closer. She doesn't... want to be looked at like that again. ]

I do so appreciate your thinking of me, [ Softly, ] But cleaning is, perhaps, all I can do...

[ he's caught between wanting to prove that he CAN be useful and immediately doing as he's told because he's been trained into it, and ultimately he ends up just...staying right where he is.

but that's fine, because he has something he wants to say first. ]

I don't think that's true. [ hard to believe in himself but so easy to believe in others. ] If you're good at cleaning, it means you're also hard-working and good at paying attention to details. It means you understand other people and what they need and how to take care of them.

[ he pauses, suddenly shrinking into himself because wow he sure did say a lot. ]

I bet there's stuff you could do here too...

[ ...? She hadn't expected such words from him — not after before. And, well, he seems so skittish... ]

Oh? I will treasure the compliment, [ She responds smoothly, smiling as she turns to lay a chunk of Yves Meat onto a prepared white cloth on the table. Which is potentially a bit (or a lot) unsettling, but she seems blissfully unaware. ] Though, the fact remains that I'm just a humble servant...

[ She wouldn't know the first thing about solving murders or saving lives... ]

But you're out here cleaning........... [ he can't bring himself to say yves ] c-cleaning up something most other people wouldn't, and not freaking out about it. I don't think that makes you humble. And it probably helps everyone else to stay calm too.

[ actually, it's kind of freaky to him but he's scared of most things so surely for everyone else it's fine?? ]
