[ week one: investigation ]

INVESTIGATION
On Friday morning, you wake up — groggy and uncertain over when you went to sleep, how you went to sleep, and how you got in your bed. Yet, you are in your bed (unless...?) and there is a sense of foreboding in the air. Some people might notice their roommates are not in their beds. Some people might notice their roommates are still sleeping. Let's hope the ones who aren't there just got up a bit earlier than everyone else and aren't, you know, the victim. Or victims.

But the doors are unlocked now and the house is accessible again. Time to go investigating.

HOW THIS WORKS: Below are top levels for every location in the house. Please reply with your character entering or interacting with the location and the mod journal will reply, sharing details over what your character will find in the location. We'll let everyone in the discord know when all points of interest have been found.

Wh--what...?

[ Yves? Yves, who was so happy that people could live past 23 here??

Yves, who didn't even make it to 23?????

Grace's posture is absolutely horrendous, in comparison to Giselle's, especially because she's kind of slumping back against the wall as she processes this. ]

[ Giselle draws a handkerchief form her apron, pressed and clean and perfect, as she makes her way over to Grace to offer it. ]

Regrettably... it is true. It comes as quite a shock. [ do you want a handkerchief in these trying times ] Would you prefer to lie down, my dear?

[ She does take the handkerchief, for something to hold onto, gaze both shocked and a little distant.

Really, after [REDACTED] happened so many years ago and then [REDACTED] showed up and was promptly [REDACTED] so that she had no choice but to [REDACTED] and then when she tried to [REDACTED], [REDACTED] and [REDACTED] also [REDACTED] in front of her, so in a sense, hearing about it instead of witnessing it herself is a bit of a kindness. ]

I-I'm... I'll be okay. I just...

... We barely got an explanation and already people are getting killed...

[ And such a nice guy, too. ]

[ NOT ALL THE [REDACTED]S? ]

Indeed. It seems what Mister Butterworth had to say, regarding his confidence that his chosen participants would act... was accurate.

[ Like yeah, she was thinking they would probably kill.... BUT NOT LIKE THIS???? there's some sickos among them.... ]

They might have, um. Extenuating circumstances. Like hostages, or...

[ ... Well. ]

Or they're sick and heartless bastards. A lot of criminal profilers have... uh, noted that some of the most accomplished killers out there are actually charming and eloquent.

[ Giselle blinks, interest piqued by Grace's apparent knowledge on the topic. ]

Oh? Is that so?

I do believe they must have some level of charm... to carry this out, while also keeping up a deception.

Right. If they were honest, it'd be a lot easier to tell.

[ But this rarely happens. ]
