[ week one: investigation ]

INVESTIGATION

On Friday morning, you wake up — groggy and uncertain over when you went to sleep, how you went to sleep, and how you got in your bed. Yet, you are in your bed (unless...?) and there is a sense of foreboding in the air. Some people might notice their roommates are not in their beds. Some people might notice their roommates are still sleeping. Let's hope the ones who aren't there just got up a bit earlier than everyone else and aren't, you know, the victim. Or victims.

But the doors are unlocked now and the house is accessible again. Time to go investigating.

[ Oh, well. Hm. The first thing the two will notice is that there is the smell of... cooking meat? Yes, of course, cooking meat.

The floor is also wet. There's a bit more, of course, but they'll have to step into the kitchen fully to see it. ]

[stds]

[ fumiko will enter first, wrinkling her nose at the smell. someone making bacon? but they're the only ones here. ]

[factoring]

Cooking this early?

[Huh?

She'll look down as she steps into the room. Is it water wet or some other substance?]

[murderhost]

[ It's water! Soapy water, to be more specific. Looks like someone was cleaning up and made a big ol' mess. Why would someone do that?

But now they're in the kitchen! Gosh, there is a lot going on in here. Like someone was just cooking, perhaps. In fact, the stove is on! There's a big pot on the stove and it's all fogged up at the cover.

... The oven is also on too. At a low broil.

The smell of cooking meat is even stronger now.

There is a kitchen knife on the cutting board. It's covered in blood.

The fridge also has bloody smears on it.

What the hell happened in this place? ]

[stds]

Hm. This is bad.

[ the bloody knife, the fridge having smears... oh boy! fumiko turns to face kyoko. ]

I think we're looking at a crime scene. I'll check the fridge if that's ok with you?

[ cause there might be something bad inside. fumiko is going to check to see if she can grab a paper towel or a dish rag before she approaches the fridge to open it up. ]

[factoring]

Not what anybody wants to see first thing in the morning.

[Well she's already wearing gloves, so she'll go over to the stove to turn it off.]

If you want to look, that's fine with me.

[murderhost]

[ Okay! Cool. The stove is now off. The pot is still simmering gently and fogged over with heat. Check the pot?

The oven is still on.

The fridge... well, once Fumiko opens it — there's nothing in there. But... you know, there's always the freezer. ]

[stds]

[ fridge is clear, but yes there is the freezer. she will close the bottom door and open the top. ]

[factoring]

[ Turning off the oven and looking into the pot. ]

[murderhost]

[ Okay, follow along with me here.

In the freezer — there is a torso. A male torso. It has clothes on it. There are also hips and thighs (still attached to each other). But the bottom half of the legs are gone. That's all in the freezer. Clothes on the legs and hips as well.

In the pot — there are arms. Chopped off at the shoulders and the elbows to fit in the pot, but the hands are missing at the wrists. The clothes are still attached as well.

The kitchen still smells like meat, but now it's taking on the tinge of burned meat. Except, the pot was at a slow boil, wasn't it? The arms are clearly not burning. ]

[stds]

Auuuggh.

[ she just shuts the freezer as she groans, screwing her eyes shut. ]

This is so gross. There's part of a body in there!

[ SIGH... ok, lock in. she's going to open the freezer again and look closer at the torso. since it's still clothed, what is being worn? is it something super familiar that only one or two people might have worn, or just generic? ]

[factoring]

The bad news continues, there are arms in the pot.

[She doesn't groan, but she prepares herself to find more cooked body parts. Looking for some oven mitts before opening up the oven properly.

Since the oven is off, she'll open it to see what's inside.]

[murderhost]

[ Bingo, bango, blamo, the oven opens up and there is big waft of burning meat coming from it. That is because right in the middle of the oven are a pair of legs with feet still attached. The lower half of those pants from the freezer and a pair of shoes are on it.

And of course, the clothes. The clothes are familiar! They belong to our resident fake French man, Yves, if you've been paying attention to what he's been wearing. Poor guy.

Also, to note, the body was stored very neatly in the freezer so at least our killer is charitable!

That's all that's in the kitchen though. ]

[stds]

[ she has chatted with yves and seen him around, but she doesn't necessarily want to just go off clothes alone. she shuts the freezer and walks over to kyoko to observe the other cut off parts, grimacing through it all. ]

Man, they were way too brutal. I wonder where the head is.

[factoring]

[ She doesn't so much grimace as she goes completely expressionless. ]

Was there a reason to go to this extent...?

The hands are missing too.

[stds]

I couldn't say for certain, but they butchered him good. It must have taken a lot of time... I'm guessing other parts are scattered about.

[factoring]

That probably took a lot of effort.

[grumbles.]

We should tell people what we found.

[stds]

There's definitely more parts scattered around. Ugh, this sucks... my appetite is ruined.
