[ week one: overflow ]

MINGLE LOG
The way you arrive might vary from person to person. Perhaps, you wake up on the beach, with your pet cat licking your face. Or you wake up tucked away in your bed, an item of yours nearby and a card on the bedside table reading your name and Welcome to the manor!

Either way, you end up in a modern mansion on a empty, lonely beach, with no explanation of why you're there or what's going on. In the driveway, there is a car with keys in the ignition but, unfortunately, no gas in the tank. In the living room, there is a touch screen television featuring a variety of profiles featuring you and the many other lost souls trapped in this mansion alongside with you.

There is also a camera crew. A camera crew? Really? But following the characters along are blank faced mannequins in a variety of colors, dressed in all black, operating cameras to film them. If you try and talk to the crew, they say nothing (as they have no mouth or eyes or... anything) and just continue to film them. Trying to touch them results in the mannequin falling over and going immobile, only to be replaced by a new one that appears from... somewhere? Weird.

The kitchen is fully stocked. There are spare clothes in the closets. There's even a few video game systems with games in the living room as well. There are books to read in the library. There's writing and drawing materials in the office. There's things to do. Just... why? To what end? What's going on here?

For those intrepid folks who decide to walk as far as they can away from the manor and the beach will find themselves blinking at one point and suddenly being back in the front yard of the manor. Huh. Strange.

Answers don't seem to be coming anytime soon. You might as well just... settle in?

That... might prove difficult without playing along with his bloody game.

[ He's had a variety of memory regains but only one that he is fairly certain was not just handed to him as a treat to lure him in the right direction. ]

...Why's that?

[sir that sounds so ominous]

[ More takes a deep breath. Very cursed that this is relevant to their current situation. ]

It took emotional anguish to break the final seal. There were other methods that allowed me glimpses of myself before that moment, but I have reason to believe they were outside of my own control - thus they are outside the scope of reproduction as well.

[Oh. Bad. Not only was More trapped for who-knows-how-long, but he had to suffer in order to retrieve his lost memories? Who the hell would have done that to him?]

I'm sorry it took that to get your memories back. I... It's good to know for here, but also more reason to hope that they're just lying to us, and not messing with our memories, too.

[ Now that is a fun question that More now knows the answer to and tries not to think about! Yay! ]

It would be by far preferable. It's striking, though, how unnecessary the lie feels. We are already well at their mercy, a consent we do not recall giving changes precious little about that.

But if it isn't a lie, that means we all would have agreed to this. Somehow, some way.

[He just finds that absolutely baffling to the point of impossible.]

I... I don't hold it as impossible to be made to agree to something that goes against my own believes. There are many ways to wear a man down to that point.

[ But looking at Leon and the stern conviction in his eyes, it just makes More hate himself a little more for it. ]

However, I don't know what would have done the same to a man such as you.

[A beat. Leon seems surprised by that assessment — that More thinks that he'd not be worn down the same as others, when he gives accedes the opposite for himself so easily.]

Given your reaction to this news, I'd give yourself more credit. I don't think you'd so easily agree, either.

[Does his faith in you help, More!!!]

[ NOT REALLY!!!! More's frowns just deepens, but he forces a smile. ]

Not readily, this is true. I merely know myself enough to understand there are threats I would cave to.

A threat is a different story. [There's a difference between that and giving into the temptation of a wish or a want.] No one here would be at fault if that was the case.
