[ week one: overflow ]

MINGLE LOG
The way you arrive might vary from person to person. Perhaps, you wake up on the beach, with your pet cat licking your face. Or you wake up tucked away in your bed, an item of yours nearby and a card on the bedside table reading your name and Welcome to the manor!

Either way, you end up in a modern mansion on a empty, lonely beach, with no explanation of why you're there or what's going on. In the driveway, there is a car with keys in the ignition but, unfortunately, no gas in the tank. In the living room, there is a touch screen television featuring a variety of profiles featuring you and the many other lost souls trapped in this mansion alongside with you.

There is also a camera crew. A camera crew? Really? But following the characters along are blank faced mannequins in a variety of colors, dressed in all black, operating cameras to film them. If you try and talk to the crew, they say nothing (as they have no mouth or eyes or... anything) and just continue to film them. Trying to touch them results in the mannequin falling over and going immobile, only to be replaced by a new one that appears from... somewhere? Weird.

The kitchen is fully stocked. There are spare clothes in the closets. There's even a few video game systems with games in the living room as well. There are books to read in the library. There's writing and drawing materials in the office. There's things to do. Just... why? To what end? What's going on here?

For those intrepid folks who decide to walk as far as they can away from the manor and the beach will find themselves blinking at one point and suddenly being back in the front yard of the manor. Huh. Strange.

Answers don't seem to be coming anytime soon. You might as well just... settle in?

[ okay. he had originally come here just for a change of scenery and now this is happening so he very slowly sips his coffee and eyeballs this despite his expression clearly saying "what in the fuck." ]

Question, did you use the knife end to cut off your own tail, or is there a different knife we should now be avoiding?

[ this is a great question and i'm so glad someone asked because ]

Would it be that I could use the tail's knife to do it, but alas, it does not flex quite enough.

[ So... ]

I cleaned it thoroughly, obviously, since it would be rude to leave it covered in blood. It is currently in the machine that washes dishes.

[ he is currently looking at the people huddling under tables and trying not to be sick and wondering if a dishwasher is going to be enough. ]

Well nobody can say you aren't considerate, at least. Hopefully that actually heals.

[ He scoffs with a shrug at the "considerate" comment, but says nothing else to it ]

It will. The tail is newer. But it is not the first time I have lost a limb. This is a far less alarming thing to remove than, say, an arm.

What, like it just grew recently? [ can people just sprout tails? much to consider. but he glances at his own arm in thought before he shrugs. ] S'long as it isn't effecting your balance somehow, guess you've got a point. A tail's almost cosmetic at that point.

Relatively speaking, at least. It came with all of this a few years prior.

[ He holds his clawed arm up slightly and flexes the fingers, but it's just a demonstration of what "this" is supposed to mean. ]

So, the lack of weight is strange, but I will adjust quickly. It is not as if I removed it at the base.

[ transformation... sure, fair enough. he has a lot more questions than he did about two minutes ago, but those can be for later. ]

Let's hope nobody else gets any bright ideas then now that you've said that. [ what if one day all we find left of roathe is his tail... ]

[ chat is it still murder if they get a disease from roathe's blood knife ]

Take it out and throw it away. Label it. I don't wanna eat something that touched your I'm Gonna Cut My Tail knife!

[ WOW??? ]

...Does the machine not disinfect? What difference is there between this and butchering an animal, so long as it does that?

[ i saw the cannibal edit note before the tag and i was like yeah i guess this would inevitably go there

and like, fundamentally, he has a point. but also- ]

No way, you're not pulling the "we're all animals at our core" on me. Sure, I could run my rapier through the magic cleaning tool, but I'm still not using it to cook.

[ that's a weapon now buddy ]

It had to be one of the big ones, right? Like...

[ the knives, she means. and she's gesturing the size to label the damn thing herself if she has to. ]

That is not what I was insinuating, really, but fine. It's illogical, but if it bothers you so, then yes, it was a large one.

[ and help as she holds up her hands... He sighs, then reaches forward with his more human hand to adjust it to the correct size. ]

There. Of that size, approximately. It is the largest one in the machine at the moment, so it is no mystery.

[ even though she technically understood Why: ]

I think you lost the right to call things illogical when you cut off your stab tail.

[ not him actually correcting her. she nods as he lets her know exactly what to label with "BLOODY TAIL KNIFE DO NOT USE FOR COOKING (OR MURDER)" later.

leaning over to try and get a peek at that stab tail, actually ]

That's healing fine?
