[ week one: overflow ]

MINGLE LOG
The way you arrive might vary from person to person. Perhaps, you wake up on the beach, with your pet cat licking your face. Or you wake up tucked away in your bed, an item of yours nearby and a card on the bedside table reading your name and Welcome to the manor!

Either way, you end up in a modern mansion on a empty, lonely beach, with no explanation of why you're there or what's going on. In the driveway, there is a car with keys in the ignition but, unfortunately, no gas in the tank. In the living room, there is a touch screen television featuring a variety of profiles featuring you and the many other lost souls trapped in this mansion alongside with you.

There is also a camera crew. A camera crew? Really? But following the characters along are blank faced mannequins in a variety of colors, dressed in all black, operating cameras to film them. If you try and talk to the crew, they say nothing (as they have no mouth or eyes or... anything) and just continue to film them. Trying to touch them results in the mannequin falling over and going immobile, only to be replaced by a new one that appears from... somewhere? Weird.

The kitchen is fully stocked. There are spare clothes in the closets. There's even a few video game systems with games in the living room as well. There are books to read in the library. There's writing and drawing materials in the office. There's things to do. Just... why? To what end? What's going on here?

For those intrepid folks who decide to walk as far as they can away from the manor and the beach will find themselves blinking at one point and suddenly being back in the front yard of the manor. Huh. Strange.

Answers don't seem to be coming anytime soon. You might as well just... settle in?

[ There's a long and slow exhale here. Okay, we're calm. Everyone is calming down now. Yikes. ]

That... relieves me immensely. Your concern is not beyond comprehension, but I do not wish to see you mutilate yourself.

[ There's a bit of a pause, like he doesn't know what to say to that. But when he does speak it's firm and confident. ]

A misplaced concern. If these stakes are to be believed, then it will ultimately be irrelevant. Either it will grow back once Uriel's regenerative abilities return, or it will not.

[ because he'll be dead 🧍‍♀️ ]

[ Let people be worried about you, jeeze! Some of us have empathy!

Unlike the screaming children, More is at least chilling out about the situation now. ]

It would regenerate? Ah... I'll confess to being caught off guard by that. That explains why you would treat this with greater disregard than most would hold for the loss of a body part.

[ Another response he doesn't expect, clearly. Empathy is hard to come by for the Orokin. ]

Quite. I am betwixt two immortal halves—the Warframe for being the weapon that it is and the Orokin, for we have overcome the spectre of death. I have passed through many bodies, and with luck, I will pass through many more still. To lose a limb is a small matter.

You might have lead with that - you gave many at the table quite a fright, hm?

[ Himself less so than the kids screaming under the table, but he also did not particularly care for this stunt for a variety of reasons, wow!! ]

May you live to use this body until it is well worn-out. Did you choose its appearance yourself?

I did not think it would be a concern.

[ And he says it so matter-of-factly that it's clearly true. This is not a man used to others looking after him. ]

But no, I did not. Uriel is the twisting of flesh forced upon me, and for the rest... [ He trails off, frowns a little sourly, then admits: ] I do not remember how I took up this body. Becoming this also came at the cost of many of my memories.

[ Wait, hold up. More's eyes widen at the reveal, and then he just looks sad. ]

That is a kind of suffering I am intimately familiar with.

[ How nice to commiserate, but he would not wish this onto anybody. ]

Though I am finally able to recall my identity and the hazy details of my own life story, it is a change that only came about shortly before my arrival here.
